At the suggestion of my sister, I read the Hunger Games for the first time this year. I don't care if it involves a gushy teenage love triangle, it really is a great story! I think all of us, every single one of us, really loves great stories. You may not love books (I do, when they tell great stories), and you may not love movies (I really do, even if the story's not that great), but even if you dislike both, you can't help but be drawn in when the story is incredible.
Definitely excited for this movie:
Evil taking over, people beat down, standing up for what's right, good defeating evil. I love great stories because they remind me of the greatest story, the one history and all of us is a part of. I think we love great stories because we're created as living pieces of God's story, the greatest story ever told.

Things I Like
One of the things that has always captured my attention is the fact that all of God's creation testifies to his greatness, his glory, his creativity, his altogether incredible awesomeness.
Like this moth:
What in the world?! This little guy was just sitting outside the office one day, his antennae are like little ferns. Such incredible detail.
Check out this frog I found, also outside the office:
This frog was sleeping when I walked up to it...vertically...stuck to a pole. Maybe I'm nerdy, but that's just fascinating.
One more, of John Morgan's kid Boston. He loves superheroes:
What a cool kid. God's glory is speaking everywhere! Where do you see it?

TELEVISION
Well, I recently moved from Lindale, TX to Van, TX. While Lindale definitely isn't a booming metropolis, compared to Van Lindale is light years in the future. You would probably guess that no matter how small town your city is, you could at least get internet, cable; or at the very least satellite tv. Not in Van. No internet provider, no cable provider. Satellite is our last hope, but alas, our house is too swamped with trees to allow for reception.
Anyway, we try not to let it affect our mood too much. Think about this, how much time do you spend watching TV in a given week? I would bet that most of you in high school watch ridiculous amounts. At least compared to me (although that's not saying much these days).
Think about what those shows are putting into you. Take my favorite show for example; Modern Family. Seemingly pretty soft, wholesome, family entertainment. But even (maybe especially) the "good" stuff in our culture is what we should be careful to evaluate, because it's with those that I let my guard down to the negative things they put in my life and mind.

Not saying TV, or most things for that matter, is in and of itself BAD. But the thing I always have to remind myself of with tv, movies, music, our culture in general is:
COLOSSIANS 2:8
Make sure you're not letting the world influence you, take you captive. Test everything you expose yourself to, that's all I'm saying!
